David Berenbaum is the chief executive officer of the Homeownership Preservation Foundation (HPF). He has testified before Congress and regulatory agencies on the future of housing finance, the importance of consumer protections, responsible mortgage underwriting, solutions to the current foreclosure crisis, mortgage servicing, scams and many other issues. David is also a frequent speaker at public and private sector conferences and appears as an expert on national news magazine and media shows – including Dateline NBC, The CBS Evening News, CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN and is regularly quoted by news sources across the country.
David has previously held executive positions with the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, the Equal Rights Center, the Fair Housing Council of Greater Washington, and Long Island Housing Services. He has served on many organizational boards, including Americans for Financial Reform, The Coalition of HUD National Housing Counseling Intermediaries and the National Housing Resource Center.
