Appraisers attending this event will learn how to build a successful appraisal firm business. This is about building the business and not completing appraisals. Our panel of experts will cover key topics to help you take your business to the next level.

8:30 – 8:45 | Introduction

This quick introduction illustrates what leading an appraisal firm looks like.

8:45 – 10:00 | Marketing through Social Media

Social media has grown in popularity through LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. These avenues have the power to completely change the way appraisers do business however, few if any know how to use or leverage these amazing platforms. During this session, appraisers will learn how to scale and diversify their business, start replacing your lender work with non-lender work, and build your brand and authority so that you can easily stick out from your competition. By the time you leave this session you’ll know exactly how to setup and optimize these social media accounts for the best results, learn where to find an endless stream of new non-lender clients including how to connect and build relationships with them, marketing best practices, how to track your results, and most importantly how to delegate a majority of the process!

This session covers going paperless office, office systems and choosing a software company.

10:30 – 11:30 | Legal and Accounting

This session will provide recommendations for the legal structure of your business. What should you consider between LLC versus Corporation. What should your engagement agreements include and exclude? What accounting concerns should you consider in addition to tax preparation, accounts receivables, payroll, employee benefits (retirement, 401K). Do you hire employees or independent contractors? Do you need a non compete with your employees? We’ll take a look at insurance considerations for both E&O and general liability.

11:30 – 12:30 | Powering Up – Taking it to the next level!

This segment details with how to go from a one person shop to a five person appraisal firm. Matt will teach attendees to view their company through the lens of USPAP Advisory Opinion 21 and consider all of the services that exist within AO21’s defined “Valuation Services”. He’ll touch on hiring and diversifying your client base within your Appraisal Practice.
