Valuation Vision* (CE Session)
The role of the appraiser has been to provide objective, impartial, and unbiased opinions about the value of real property. The appraiser’s expertise and market knowledge provides assistance to those who own, manage, sell, invest in, and/or lend money on the security of real estate. This panel will look into the appraiser’s current role and how that role is changing. The panel will elaborate on the ways appraisals are done elsewhere to see what can be gleaned from a fresh approach. We’d get insight on what investor care about from the appraiser. We’ve got lender representation to see what the critical touchpoints are from the lender’s perspective and the 2019 Valuation Visionary, Paul Chandler will round out the panel with the AMCs view of technology, statistics, and other critical data used to form the opinion of property value. But how, in the 21st Century, does an appraiser meet these challenges with a broadening scope of work, complexity of assignments that extend beyond past expectations? Appraisers, now more than ever, need to understand their role in the process and be able to provide extensive data analytics, as well as exercise solid judgment, and effectively communicate property value in today’s market.
